Whether you’re taking your first step towards leadership or you’re an experienced team leader looking to brush up on some new skills, you might be wondering how you can start the year off on the right foot as a great project leader. A team could be comprised of the most intelligent members and armed with the latest technology, but without an excellent leader there to manage the project at hand it may go up in smoke. Delegate accordingly

You didn’t get to where you are today by sitting on the sidelines so, understandably, it might be difficult for you to now take a step back and delegate. However, this is an integral component of being a great project leader, so make full use of the resources available on your team by assigning tasks based on skills and experience. You should openly encourage your team to perform well, while ensuring they have the support, training & resources to do so.

Remember that the people on your team were hired for a reason and they’ll likely execute their assigned tasks more effectively without you hovering over them.
