Hiperpool’s Talent Sponsors, with the help of a smart-matching technology, were able to identify seven members from the Hiperpool community that matched CommuterClub’s requirements and were interested in the role. We then presented this short list to CommuterClub's hiring manager, who decided to interview six of the proposed members.

After three interview rounds, CommuterClub decided to make an offer to a Hiperpool member, who accepted the role. The overall process took ~60 days.

About the company

CommuterClub offers a low-cost installment plan so commuters can access savings offered by annual public transport passes, such as an Oyster pass for the London Underground. The tickets are funded up front through peer-to-peer financing (in partnership with RateSetter) and then customers can pay a monthly fee with interest on top. The overall cost for the year will end up cheaper than buying monthly travel passes. It was founded by Bulgarian-born Petko Plachkov and Imran Gulamhuseinwala who met when working at financial services company Resolution.

CommuterClub has successfully raised over £2mn to date. They are backed by leading UK angels including Peter Jackson (CEO Travelex, WorldPay), Gavin Casey (CEO London Stock Exchange) Anthony Gutman (Head IBD Goldman Sachs), Nader Farahati (Head Financial Services Europe Oliver Wyman) and are growing fast at 2-3x YoY. Their goal is to become the leading retailer and finance provider for commuting in Europe.

CommuterClub partnered with Hiperpool in order to find a Head of Operations to join their headquarters in London.
